Yet Another New Hampshire Crash Caused by Car Crossing Median
Over the past few months and years, New Hampshire residents have become increasingly concerned about crashes caused by cars crossing medians. This issue seems to be especially prevalent on I-95, where yet another car accident recently occurred. If a crash of this nature hurt you or someone you love, you may wish to consider your legal options alongside a New Hampshire auto accident attorney.
Car Crosses I-95 Median in Fiery Crash
In November of 2024, various sources reported that a head-on collision had occurred on I-95 near Greenland. Like so many other crashes on I-95, this one seems to have involved a vehicle crossing the median. First responders noted that two people had suffered serious injuries in the collision.
First, a Volkswagen rear-ended a Toyota, sending it into an embankment. The Volkswagen then crossed the median, and although the driver managed to reverse and travel in the right direction, he was rear-ended. This caused the Volkswagen to veer off the side of the road and into the center of the road. The vehicle then caught fire, and the driver was ejected out of the car – suffering life-threatening injuries in the process. Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
It is not clear why the initial rear-end collision occurred, and traffic authorities are still investigating the crash. This accident involved three vehicles, causing a fire and numerous collisions. Images from the crash scene are quite alarming – and they depict a scene of considerable destruction.
This is not the first time a serious accident has occurred on I-95. In fact, these accidents are occurring at a frequent pace – and they often involve cars crossing the median. In October, numerous victims were seriously injured or killed by crashes of this nature.
In response, the Department of Transportation announced that it will add new median barriers to I-95, and it has also added reflective markers along the most problematic areas. These reflective markers seem to be achieving very little if this recent crash is anything to go by.
One might argue that if median barriers had been installed prior to this crash, it would not have been so bad. After the initial rear-end collision, one of the drivers crossed the median – sparking a second collision that ignited the vehicle and caused life-threatening injuries. If the median had been in place, this secondary collision would not have occurred.
