Visibility, Location and Preparation Keys to a Safe Ride
Check out this report about the keys to a safe ride. According to a report by The League of American Bicyclists, there are more than 57 million cyclists across our nation’s roads and trails. Transportation studies also show that bike trips tripled in the United States between 1977 and 2009. And while deaths among bicyclists younger than 20 actually dropped by 87 percent during that time period, accidents increased 167 percent for men 20 and older. “Adult cyclists are far more likely to ride on busy streets than children,” said James Green, a nationally known engineer who has reconstructed hundreds of adult bike accidents, “and bikers always lose in a collision with a motor vehicle.”
