Numerous Crashes in New Hampshire Linked to Winter Road Conditions

WinterDriving

Several recent car crashes in New Hampshire have highlighted potentially dangerous winter road conditions throughout the state. These accidents have involved semi-trucks, school buses, and flaming vehicles. While none of these crashes have been directly linked to icy roads, all vehicles tend to struggle with traction in freezing temperatures. What can you do if you were injured in a similar crash?

Head-On Collision Between School Bus and Sedan in Nashua

In December of 2024, it was reported that a school bus and a sedan had collided head-on in Nashua. Photos from the scene show the small sedan with a completely destroyed front section, highlighting the intensity of this impact. The driver of the sedan was predictably injured, but first responders say that they are “expected to survive.” The school bus driver and the one student on board were not injured.

While police did not give a direct reason for the accident, they reminded the public that roadways are slick with freezing ice whenever temperatures drop. This could be a hint that the crash occurred after one of these two vehicles slid and lost control on the icy roads.

Driver Narrowly Escapes Death After Being Pulled From Burning Wreck

A few days earlier, a vehicle slid and lost control on a snowy road in New Hampshire before veering into a cluster of trees. The accident occurred on New Boston Road in Candia, and the vehicle burst into flames after impacting the trees. Fortunately, a group of nearby bystanders rushed to the wreck and pulled the driver out of the vehicle before it was completely consumed by flames.

Again, local law enforcement did not reveal what caused the accident. However, this was a single-vehicle accident – and footage from a nearby camera shows that the road was snowy before the crash. Indeed, the car appeared to spray ice and snow into the air as it rolled into the trees.

Man Falls From Bucket Truck After Being Struck by Tractor-Trailer

Another dangerous incident occurred in December of 2024 when a tractor-trailer slammed into a bucket truck in Goffstown. A man was working in the extended bucket when the collision occurred, and he fell from a considerable height as a result. First responders say the utility worker suffered a brain injury due to the fall.

Early reports indicated that the road was wet with melting ice. Authorities say that this may have caused glare from the sun as well as traction issues.

Can a New Hampshire Injury Lawyer Help After a Car Accident?

If you were injured in a wreck, a Manchester car accident lawyer may be able to help. Even if the crash seems like it was caused by ice on the road, this doesn’t necessarily mean that no one is to blame. Drivers should always exercise caution in these conditions, and speeding on icy roads may constitute negligence. Speak with Manning Zimmerman & Oliveira PLLC today to learn more about pursuing compensation.
