Dozens Injured After SUV Crashes into Popular New Hampshire Restaurant

CarInBldg

On July 3rd of 2023, dozens of New Hampshire residents were enjoying a meal in the Looney Bin Bar and Grill when an SUV suddenly crashed into the building. What followed was a mess of broken glass and shattered bones. After the dust cleared, 14 people stumbled to their feet with serious injuries. Some didn’t get up at all. At least one individual was left pinned in place by the SUV. But how exactly did this accident happen? Why do cars keep crashing into buildings in New Hampshire? Perhaps most importantly, who is responsible for paying the medical fees of these injured plaintiffs?

Police Say Three Cars Involved in Restaurant Crash

Police in Laconia report that three vehicles were involved in the accident that sent the SUV hurtling into the restaurant. Apparently, one driver pulled out from a parking spot at a nearby arcade and attempted to make a left-hand turn. Unfortunately, the driver struck an oncoming second vehicle, sending a third vehicle through the wall of the restaurant and into a mass of people. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, and charges could be filed due to driver negligence.

“Significant Lower Leg Injuries” Reported

A number of restaurant patrons have reportedly suffered “serious lower leg injuries” as a result of this crash. These probably involve serious fractures. In total, it seems that 26 people were struck – an incredible sum. This suggests that these individuals were closely packed together, as one would expect in a popular restaurant. However, it’s worth noting that while 26 people were affected by the accident, only 14 of these were hospitalized. Other reported injuries included lacerations and bruising. One individual was pinned inside of a bathroom.

Who Will Pay for these Medical Expenses?

The real question is who will pay for the medical expenses of these injured restaurant patrons. The obvious choice is to file an injury claim against the negligent driver(s) that caused the crash, but there is no guarantee that this party will have the financial ability to pay for the damages of all 14 injured victims. This is especially true when you consider that car insurance is not mandatory in New Hampshire. Injured patrons may also turn to their own car insurance to receive compensation, as this technically constitutes a car accident. But once again, there is no guarantee that these patrons even have car insurance.
